As children, it’s natural for us to take the parent for granted. But that innocent unawareness changes nothing. The parent remains our essential and irreplaceable nurturer, protector, and sustainer.
To grow up, though, is to discover a new perspective on this relationship. To mature is to re-evaluate how we view our Mother Earth, and how we treat her.
It’s now urgent, as we’ve discovered, to reflect and to act: Does our behavior toward her show respect? Are our actions sustainable?
Becoming adults, observing from a global perspective, we see the damage we have inflicted on our Mother’s health. We’re discovering that creative change is the only way to safeguard both our personal health, and that of our children and grandchildren. We have even taken a small steps toward new behaviors.
Photography is for me a liturgy or homage, a prayer to express my gratitude. In this gallery, you will find images of our Mother Earth that, I hope, will encourage us both to establish and communicate our personal responses.
(Meanwhile, in the War Of The World gallery, you can see some dire outcomes of our disregard for our Mother’ health.)
