Turneresque Sky 1

Turneresque Sky 1

from CA$300.00

A day in the Caledon district. Every time I looked at the western sky, it seemed to develop new and complex cloud formations. At various altitudes, I could see sections of overcast, the ice crystals of cirrus clouds and cirrocumulus-ripple clouds and long streaks of cirrus uncinus (or “mare’s tails”).

As the sun approached the horizon, it was obscured by the clouds, which still refracted its light. A telephoto lens allowed me to peer into the center of the pattern, providing a photograph that reminds me of the fierce and complex skies in JMW Turner’s 19th century paintings.
